Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas, located on the hilly island of New Providence. Access to neighboring Paradise Island is via one of the two bridges that cross Nassau Harbor. The city is known for its cruise ship port, beaches and coral reefs that attract diving and snorkeling enthusiasts. Nassau has many pastel-colored British colonial buildings, including the pink-painted Government House. The population of the city is 270,000 people.
