Montanha do Pico — Northwest View Webcam

This webcam is installed on a building in the town of Lajes do Pico and faces northwest.
Before you opens a wide panoramic view of the southern coastline of Pico Island. At the top of the frame you can see Montanha do Pico — a dormant stratovolcano rising 2,351 m, the highest point in Portugal. The volcano is known for its large crater and popular hiking routes that lead to stunning viewpoints over the entire archipelago.
The central part of the frame shows the island’s shoreline and the Atlantic Ocean — waters inhabited by whales, dolphins, sperm whales, and other marine mammals. Lajes do Pico is home to Espaço Talassa, the first sustainable whale-watching base in the Azores dedicated to the research and protection of cetaceans. From here you can embark on a sea adventure and observe these magnificent marine giants in their natural habitat.
At the bottom of the frame is the small port of Porto de Lajes do Pico, where fishing boats and small vessels are moored. Watch the daily life of the port, the changing weather, and the mesmerizing ocean scenery at any time of day.
