South Lake Tahoe is the most populous city in El Dorado County in California, USA. The city stretches from southwest to northeast for 8 kilometers along the southern shore of Lake Tahoe and Highway 50. In the northeast, South Lake Tahoe abuts the border with the state of Nevada, after which it becomes the settlement of Stateline. The area of the city is 43 km², of which 17 km² are open water areas. The population of the city is 22,000 people.
