This webcam is installed on the Tampa Bay Bridge, better known as the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, and is facing northwest.
In front of you is a view of traffic moving across the bridge and a scenic view of Tampa Bay.This iconic cable-stayed bridge on the I-275 highway connects St. Petersburg with Bradenton. The modern structure opened in 1987 to replace the old bridge, which tragically collapsed in 1980 after being struck by the bulk carrier Summit Venture during a storm. The new bridge is equipped with heavy-duty pier protection to prevent ship collisions, and its bright yellow stay cables have become a signature symbol of Florida.
