Louisville is the largest city in the US state of Kentucky. It is ranked 17th or 27th most populous in the United States, depending on how it is counted. The population of the city is over 700,000 people. The settlement, which later became the city of Louisville, was founded in 1778 by George Rogers Clark and was named after the French king Louis XVI.
