Maryland is a mid-Atlantic state with deep rivers and scenic coastlines of the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean. Baltimore, the largest city in the state, is a seaport with a rich history. The entrance to the Inner Harbor is guarded by Fort McHenry, where the US national anthem was coined. The harbor houses the National Aquarium and Science Center. The state has a population of six million.
