College Avenue Webcam

This webcam is installed on the Michigan Technological University campus — on the Engineering Mechanics Department building and is facing west.
Before you, a view of literally the entire downtown Houghton opens up! Right in the center of the frame, one of the main streets in town is visible — College Avenue. In the right part of the frame, at first glance, it looks like a river — but no, it's the Portage Canal, an artificially deepened waterway that cuts across the Keweenaw Peninsula and connects two parts of Lake Superior, providing a passage for vessels. Slightly above, you can spot the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, which connects Houghton and Hancock. In the right part of the frame, Hancock itself is visible.
