The United States territories are administered by the United States government, but are not part of any United States state or the District of Columbia. Territories of the United States can be incorporated or unincorporated, as well as organized or unorganized. A US territory is an Incorporated Territory if the US Congress has established the full effect of the US Constitution on this territory, including the granting of citizenship to its residents. The Incorporated Territory is considered an integral part of the United States and cannot be withdrawn from the United States. Unlike the Incorporated Territory, the Unincorporated Territory is not part of the United States, but is owned by the United States. The United States Constitution is restricted in the Unincorporated Territory. Organized Territory is the territory in which the U.S. Congress established local government.
